Wanted for Crimes against his body.

For most of my life I have lived with the costant up and down battle with my weight, but with the birth of my second and third son the battle has become an out right slaughter. Two years ago with the news of the impending birth of my second son, my father deploying to Iraq, and the prospects of leaving Alaska in the near future. I decided it was time to take the fight to the enemy myself. I called my ever insipirational Georgia Snail, and asked if he would care to join in my crazy expedition in running the Equinox Marathon, he agreed and we commenced the training. Needless to say he suceeded where I failed. The enemy stormed the castle and ran rough shod over me like never before weight +50, but on the plus side I had a new baby boy and couldn't be happier.

Phase two of the Fat offensive

Renewed with a new sense of vigor from the Snails continued progress, the joy of my new baby boy, and the return of my father from Iraq. I headed out on the trails again bound and determined to conquer this enemy before me, at first the offensive was going well first month -5, then -20, before I knew it I was up to running 10 miles a day and my weight was down to 250, but with every good offensive there is always a setback and it is with those setbacks, we see what lies beneath. The many years of 200+ living had finally taken its toll on my knees. Combined with my flat feet, excessive weight, and the drastic increase in miles run and the hills climbed, my knees gave out and I had to scale back the miles, and reasses my battle plans, but again the silver lining was the birth of my third son.  Final total -30lbs, and the start of a good running base from which to build from.

New Year, New Plan

Battle of the Bulge

And so here I sit 2 years later at the same spot I was 2 years ago, but with many lessons learned and my trusty role model GS laying down the tracks in front of me and giving me something to look forward to and a path to follow. It is with this in mind that I have created this blog to help keep my self accountable as well as give a weekly recap of my progress and to see my written goals written out.

Goals for January

Change diet, cut out soda and Coffee
Lose 10 lbs
Log 40 miles on the beloved track
Begin my 12 week 1/2 marathon training plan with Hal

  1. Great work bro! It starts one foot in front of the other! I look forward to watching your progress!

  2. Good luck with your goals! I've been struggling with the soda/coffee thing, too. Well, "struggling" as in "I know I should stop drinking so much but don't want to stop"...not actually trying to stop.

Welcome to'll meet a lot of great people here!
